THE EXHIBITION CENTRE

Along
with creating an inventory and a catalogue of documents
and books concerning Sandro Pertini, the Association is
progressively transferring a large part of its holdings
onto a digital format. This serves the dual purpose of
preservation and of promoting its accessibility, thanks to
computer technology, to a vaster public, particularly to
younger generations.
This undertaking invests not only Pertini's papers, the
photographic and audiovisual materials and
personally-owned objects, but also the documents
concerning the history of the workers' movement and of the
socialist movement in the twentieth century.
This undertaking is presently focussed on the creation of
a database for the iconographic holdings concerning
left-wing politics in Italy and abroad from the end of the
19th century to the present and a database on electoral
programs of the principal political forces of European
social-democratic thought.
At its offices, the Foundation already offers to the
public appropriate facilities for viewing photographic
images-both originals and simulacra on CD-Rom, audio
materials-on cassettes and audio CDs, and audio-visual
materials, in the form of VHS cassettes, video CDs and
DVD-Rom.
The most important documents will be displayed in the
offices of the Association in Palazzo Coppi in an
exhibition alternating museum materials, paintings,
personal objects and multi-media materials. |
